EMS has been deeply involved in all technical aspects associated with USNRC 89-10, especially the seismic and weak-link analysis aspects of MOVs. Over the last 10 years EMS has developed a variety of innovative technical approaches and tools that have helped our clients resolve their most challenging MOV issues, quickly and cost-effectively. We have analyzed Gate, Globe and Butterfly valves from many vendors, especially Anchor/Darling, Anderson Greenwood, Atwood & Morrill, BW/IP, Copes Vulcan, Crane, Edward, Enertech, Fisher, Henry-Pratt, Kerotest, Neles-Jamesbury, Wm. Powell, Valtek, Velan and Westinghouse. |
MOV Seismic and Weak-Link Analysis |
EMS has been on the forefront of the AOV design margin assessments as part of the AOV industry’s efforts via the AUG to meet NRC expectations. We have performed weak link analyses of AOVs to investigate the internal load path to verify that the required thrust/torque can be delivered from the actuator to the valve so that the AOV can perform it intended safety function, with appropriate design margin. EMS has analyzed ball, gate, globe, diaphragm, and butterfly AOVs from various vendors including Fisher, Anchor/Darling, Hills-McCanna, Masoneilan, Pacific Valves, Hancock, etc. |
