In the field of Seismic Qualification (SQ), EMS possesses a full spectrum of analysis and test expertise, due to many of our engineers providing SQ services over most of their professional nuclear career. Most of our engineers possess at least 15 years of SQ background, in modern methods of SQ (IEEE 344) as well as utilizing the SQUG methodology for NARE (New And Replacement Equipment) evaluations. We have SQUG-certified Seismic Capability Engineers on staff as well as engineers trained on the use of STERI (Seismic Technical Evaluation of Replacement Items). As a result of this training and experience, EMS can provide quick, efficient solutions to your SQ challenges, regardless of complexity. Specific SQ services EMS can provide include: · Static/Dynamic stress analyses using FEA techniques including elastic/plastic methods · Review of vendor dynamic stress reports for mechanical components, including conformance to applicable subsection of ASME Section III B&PV Code D · Review of vendor/third party seismic test reports for meeting IEEE 344 and plant seismic parameters and system acceptance criteria · Perform STERI or G-STERI insensitivity/ruggedness screenings followed by seismic equivalency analyses for replacement components, in lieu of more expensive seismic analysis or testing · Apply NARE concepts to replacement components and equipment, utilizing earthquake experience techniques outlined in SQUG GIP (Generic Implementation Procedure) · Perform station licensing basis screening for use of SQUG methodology for future use, including writing implementing station procedure · Exclusive expertise in writing or reviewing seismic test procedure based on station need, as well as provide seismic test services through witnessing of seismic tests to ensure station application is met in all aspects to SQ · Equipment foundation load analyses |
